KIOWA COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Kiowa County Economic Development Corporation is scheduled for Jan. 30th at 5 pm in the SunChips Incubator Building conference room. The public is invited to attend.

MULLINVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Mullinville UMC will be having its annual Ground Hog Supper on Saturday, February 4th from 5- 7:30 pm. We will be serving Pancakes, fresh pork sausage, apple sauce and drinks. The cost of the dinner is a Free Will Offering. Everyone is invited to attend!

FRIENDS CHURCH CONCERT

Haviland Friends Church will be hosting a benefit concert on February 4th at 7 p.m. to support the church’s missionary work.

Tim Rogers, Kiowa County Schools Director of Bands and his wife Heather will perform along with vocal teachers Kim Stewart, Amber Campbell and others. Donations will be accepted at the door. A reception will follow at Origins Coffee House. All are welcome to attend.

ANNUAL ENCHILADA SALE

It is that time of year again, so place your order for the St. Joseph Catholic Church Annual Enchilada Sale! Enchiladas are $13 a dozen. Place your order by Feb. 14 by calling Ellen Peters @ 620-255-3636 or Tracy

Little @ 620-474-2145. Enchiladas may be picked up on Feb. 18.

Proceeds will go to the Kiowa County High School and Bucklin High School After-Prom parties, Catholic Social Services in Dodge City and the Kiowa County Ministerial Alliance.

HEALTH CARE NEEDS ASSESSMENT MEETING

In order to gauge the overall health needs of Kiowa County, the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital and Kiowa County Health Department cordially invite you to participate in a Community Healthcare Needs Assessment Town Hall discussion group on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012 from 9 am- 10:30 am at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, 721 W. Kansas, Greensburg, Kansas. The meeting will be held in the Basement Conference Room.

This event is being held to identify & prioritize health needs of Kiowa County residents, in order to maintain regulatory compliance for both organizations.

We encourage your attendance, as your input is very valuable to our community. Light refreshments will be served. VVV Research & Development, Inc. from Olathe, KS will be facilitating our meeting that day.

· South Landfill hours are Monday – Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The landfill charges $5.00 per cubic yard for C/D and $20.00 per cubic yard for concrete.

· Recycle Center hours are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 1st and 3rd Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

HAVILAND CITY GOVERNMENT

· City Hall hours are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

· Greensburg Planning Commission meetings are held on Wednesdays on a fluctuating schedule at 6:30 p.m. Check with Christy at 620-723-4109 for the next date.

· Greensburg Trash Routes are running for the entire city on Wednesdays. Trash must be out by 8 a.m. or it will not be picked up.

· Greensburg Recycle Routes are running for East/West streets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and for North/South streets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

· Big Well Gift Shop hours are Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sundays 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. The phone number for the gift shop is 620-723-4102.

NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION MEETINGS

· The Kiowa County Council on Aging meets the second Tuesday of each month at 3 pm in the Komotara Apartment conference room (810 S. Spruce) in Greensburg.

· The Kiowa County Historical Society meetings are held on the 4th Thursdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Kiowa County Commons Conference Room.

· The Kiowa County Kansas Media Center Foundation board meetings are held on the 1st Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Media Center, located in the Commons Building. Please contact Jan West at 723-3181 for more information.

· The Kiowa County Library board meets the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Kiowa County Commons Conference room or on the following Tuesday if the first Monday is a county holiday.

The Kiowa County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet will be held Saturday, January 28th at 6pm, in the Kiowa County Community Building.

The special guest speaker is Mr. Troy Unruh, a life coach and motivational speaker. A pork loin dinner will be catered by Kook¹s Meat.

Tickets are on sale at the Chamber office or at Greensburg State Bank.
