LETTERS TO SANTA
The Greensburg Post Office will be accepting letters to Santa this Christmas season. Every letter mailed by December 14th will receive a personalized reply from Sant at the North Pole. All Letters to Santa must bear appropriate First Class postage, and must be presented for mailing at the retail counter during regular business hours.

ART EXHIBIT AT 5.4.7 ARTS CENTER
Mimesis, paintings and printmaking, by Clinton Marstall will be on display at the 5.4.7 Arts Center from December 1, 2010 through January 7, 2011.

An artist talk and reception will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 6 p.m. with refreshments.

BUSINESSES OPEN HOUSE
Business Open House December 4th 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and December 5th 12 p.m. 6 p.m. Visit your participating local businesses for refreshments, door prizes, and holiday specials.

KCHS DRAMA CLASS PRESENTS
The KCHS Drama Class will be presenting “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon on Thursday, December 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Mullinville School Auditorium.

Tickets for the show are $4.00 and must be purchased ahead of time. As there is limited seating (270 seats), no tickets will be sold the night of the performance! Call the Kiowa County High School (620-723-2164) or contact one of the drama students to purchase your tickets as soon as possible.

ARTS CENTER OPEN HOUSE
The 5.4.7 Arts Center, located at 204 W. Wisconsin, will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th from 1 – 4 p.m. Come by and see the exhibit, have some refreshments and let the kids do a fun art project while there!

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS ROOM
Do you have left over paint, plywood or other building materials? Are you trying to get rid of these leftover materials but don’t know what to do with them?

Drop off your leftover construction materials at the Recycling Center in the Construction Materials Room!

If you are starting a project and would like some paint or building materials, feel free to pick some up for free from the Construction Materials Room.

If you would like help getting your materials to the Recycling Center, please call GreenTown at 620-723-2790. We will be picking up materials on Wednesday, December 1 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Please let us know if you will be leaving it on the curb or if we will need to get it our of your garage or basement.

WHOOPING COUGH (Pertussis)
Whooping cough seems to be back!!!
Infants not yet vaccinated and Adults are most likely to get this. We have had infants dying from this disease already this fall.

So adults, if you are going to be around infants, it is your responsibility to get this Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) shot, so that you could not pass this on to an infant that does not have their vaccinations yet. Also it can very serious for adults if you get this disease.

ART CLASSES AT 5.4.7 ARTS CENTER
Papermaking/Handmade Holiday Cards –
In this 2 session class you will recycle old paper to make new handmade papers. In the 2nd session we will use our new paper to make handmade holiday cards. Start saving used paper (newspapers, school paper, tissue paper, etc.) and bring it with you to recycle. We will also need some old pantyhose and items to add to your papers such as leaves, petals, fruit rinds, glitter or food coloring. Please plan to attend both sessions to get the most out of this workshop!
$15 per person

The city offices of Greensburg, Haviland and Mullinville in addition to the Kiowa County Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Normal office hours will resume on Monday, November 29th.

FUMC FITNESS CENTER
The United Methodist Church has a Fitness Center that is open to the public. It is located in room 7 on the lower floor and can be accessed through the main entrance or through the southwest door by the daycare. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday. Please fill out a liability release form and sign in and out.

ART CLASSES AT 5.4.7 ARTS CENTER
· Two Session Hand-built Ceramics –
Session 1: Come and make your own handmade ceramic piece from wet clay. Bring your own idea or learn to make a bowl, house numbers, wind chimes, etc. The possibilities are endless.

POST OFFICE CLOSED FOR VETERAN’S DAY
The Greensburg Post Office will be closed on Thursday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. No mail delivery, no retail services. Mail WILL be collected from the blue collection box located outside the Post Office at the regularly scheduled time.

KIOWA COUNTY OFFICES CLOSED FOR VETERAN’S DAY
The Kiowa County Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. The offices will be open at 8 a.m. on Friday morning with regular office hours.

ART CLASSES AT 5.4.7 ARTS CENTER
· Two Session Hand-built Ceramics –
Session 1: Come and make your own handmade ceramic piece from wet clay. Bring your own idea or learn to make a bowl, house numbers, wind chimes, etc. The possibilities are endless.
Session 2: Finish the piece you made in session 1 by glazing. Please plan to attend both sessions in order to get the most out of this workshop!

· Christmas Ornaments with Family and Friends –
This is a family and friends class for adults and children to work together to create new holiday ornaments from clay! No kids? Bring a friend and come have fun!

2 sessions to choose from: Saturday, November 20th from 10 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.
· Papermaking/Handmade Holiday Cards –
In this 2 session class you will recycle old paper to make new handmade papers. In the 2nd session we will use our new paper to make handmade holiday cards. Start saving used paper (newspapers, school paper, tissue paper, etc.) and bring it with you to recycle. We will also need some old pantyhose and items to add to your papers such as leaves, petals, fruit rinds, glitter or food coloring. Please plan to attend both sessions to get the most out of this workshop!

FUMC FITNESS CENTER
The United Methodist Church has a Fitness Center that is open to the public. It is located in room 7 on the lower floor and can be accessed through the main entrance or through the southwest door by the daycare. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday. Please fill out a liability release form and sign in and out.

CITY OF GREENSBURG OFFICE CLOSED
The City of Greensburg offices will be closed on Thursday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. Normal business hours will resume on Friday, November 12th.

WHOOPING COUGH (Pertussis)
Whooping cough seems to be back!!!
Infants not yet vaccinated and Adults are most likely to get this. We have had infants dying from this disease already this fall.

So adults, if you are going to be around infants, it is your responsibility to get this Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) shot, so that you could not pass this on to an infant that does not have their vaccinations yet. Also it can very serious for adults if you get this disease.

Ducks Unlimited will be having a banquet on Saturday, November 13th at the Kiowa County Community Center, 720 N. Bay St., Greensburg. The Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the dinner being served at 7 p.m.

KIOWA COUNTY HEALTH FOUNDATION
The Kiowa County Health Foundation would like to invite you to the 22nd Annual Dinner Meeting of the Kiowa County Health Foundation. It will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 W. Lincoln, Greensburg, Kansas. A free will donation will be accepted. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

There will be an opportunity to meet and visit with Kiowa County Health Care providers from the various health organizations in Kiowa County. These include Great Plains Health Alliance, Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Iroquios Center for Human Development, Kiowa County Health Department, Greensburg Family Practice, Haviland Clinic, South Wind Hospice, Carriage House and Home Again Senior Living. Organizations will be giving updates. Dr. Jennifer Cook, Docs Who Care physician, will also be speaking.

Foundation scholarship recipients will also be recognized.

There will also be a presentation recapping the Foundation events and projects for 2010. We will discuss future projects and direction. An election for vacated positions of the Board of Directors will be held.
