IDENTITY THEFT SEMINAR

Peace Lutheran Church will host a Free community seminar on Identity Theft on Sunday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the church, 321 S. Walnut, Greensburg. The seminar is sponsored by Thrivent.

Everyone is invited to attend. Please feel free to join us for worship at 11 a.m., a potluck dinner at 12:15 p.m. and the seminar at 1:30 p.m.

SCOUTING FOR FOOD

The Kiowa County Boy Scouts will hold their annual Scouting for Food drive on October 8th. Scouts will distribute door hangers to Haviland, Greensburg and Mullinville residents on Sunday, October 2nd. Residents are encouraged to leave non-perishable, non-expired food items on their porch or curb no later than noon on October 8th. All food items will be donated to the Kiowa County Food Bank. SOUP SUPPER

The First Baptist Church will be hosting a soup supper on Sunday, October 9th from at 6 - 8 p.m. at the church located at 200 W. Kansas Ave, Greensburg. * 2 Session Adult Hand-built Ceramics: Session 1. Come and make your own homemade ceramic piece from wet clay! Bring your own idea or learn to make a bowl, house numbers, wind chimes etc. Possibilities are endless! Session 2. Finish the piece you made in session 1 by glazing. Please plan to attend both sessions in order to get the most out of this workshop! Class cost $30 per person, includes all materials and firings. Thursday, October 6th and 13th, 7 – 9 p.m.

* Monoprinting: Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has images or lines that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple originals. Using acetate sheets and paint, we will create our own unique prints. A great way to make handmade greeting and holiday cards! Class cost $20 per person, includes all materials. Tuesday, October 25th at 7 p.m.

* Christmas Ornaments with Friends and Family: This is a family and friends class for adults and children to work together to create new holiday ornaments with clay! No children? Bring a friend and come have fun! Class costs $20 per pair, $5 per additional person, includes all supplies and firings. Saturday, November 19th at 10 a.m.

· We will start giving Flu shots Sept 19th by appointments.

Bring your own idea or learn to make a bowl, house numbers, wind chimes etc. Possibilities are endless! Session 2. Finish the piece you made in session 1 by glazing. Please plan to attend both sessions in order to get the most out of this workshop! Class cost $30 per person, includes all materials and firings. Thursday, October 6th and 13th, 7 – 9 p.m.

The City of Greensburg is hosting a reception to celebrate Forrest’s 28 years of service to the Greensburg community.

CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMS

The Kiowa County Safe Kids committee will be hosting a series of awareness programs regarding child passenger safety. Each session will be focused on a specific age group to best meet the learning abilities of the children. Parents are encouraged to attend the training session so they can further discuss the information at home. The sessions are being held free of charge!

What: Hands-on educational activities designed to educate families with older children about being safe inside and outside of moving and parked vehicles. There will be ice cream and a raffle during the event.

Who: 11-12 years olds

What: Hands-on educational activities designed to educate kids about being safe inside and outside of moving and parked vehicles. Additionally, to increase the number of preteens who buckle up in a backseat and give them the tools to encourage peers and family members to do likewise.

Who: 8th graders and their parents

What: Countdown2Drive is a web-based program designed to bring parents and young teens together to talk about the key safety issues teens will face when riding as passengers or as they prepare to drive. There will be pizza and a raffle during the event.
