PRAIRIE LAND FOODS
Dear friends and neighbors,
PLEASE CONSIDER this program as a helping hand to your ever stretching food dollars. Prairie Land is a non-profit organization to help you with this. In a Prairie Land Food bag you will receive six meats based on a family of four. This last month we received ham steak, hamburger, sausage, fish, turkey breast sliced and chicken nuggets. You will also receive 6 to 8 fresh fruits and vegetables, like salad mix, potatoes, apples, bananas, green peppers, etc. Many times we will have some type of snack food, like pudding etc.
This is all for $24.00 and 2 hours of volunteerism. I have checked these items at the grocery store and I know that you can't buy them for $24.00.
The 2 hours of volunteerism is any good deed you do. For example watching grandchildren, do a prayer chain, Sunday school class, help your parents or neighbor; any deed you choose. Everyone can participate. Please call if you have any questions.

Also each month there is also additional great food packages that you may order if you are getting the basic Prairie Land food package. We would be glad to put you on an email list and you may also participate in specials that come up each month.

We really need to keep this program going and to do so we need participation from all of you. If you don’t think you need this much food, join with a friend or neighbor and share the box of food each month. We are now taking orders through October 12 and the delivery date will be October 23.

To purchase a package, learn the various prices and/or for more information about Prairie Land Food, contact the Kiowa County Health Department at 620-723-2136.

Thank You
Mitzi Hesser

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR KIOWA COUNTY
You can take advantage of a unique opportunity to experience some amazing cutting-edge technology at the Kiowa County Courthouse this month. For one week only (October 8-14), community groups can arrange to have a demonstration of Telepresence technology. This is a communication tool which puts people in face-to-face contact, no matter where in the world they are, and they feel like they are in the same room. The camera automatically adjusts its views based on who is talking at the time. You can also call up documents onto the screen to use as visual aids to the conversation.
If you work in education (think distance learning), health care (telemedicine), city or county government, or other fields where communication is key, this could be of great interest to you. We invite you to give the Telepresence a test-drive.
The technology is in Greensburg thanks to the generosity of AT&T and CISCO. They are partners with Greensburg GreenTown on our home design competition and have installed the Telepresence into the County Commissioners room so that the judges of our contest can meet to discuss the submissions in real time.
Call Stephanie at GreenTown (cell: 402-660-4834) if you’d like to schedule a time for your group to experience this very cool technology. We expect that the room in the Courthouse can accommodate up to 10 people comfortably.
