NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE: Severe storms are expected to develop in the Kiowa County area late Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Locally heavy rainfall (more than once inch), large hail and wind gusts over 60 mph are possible. Due to potential severe weather, volunteers will not be allowed in Greensburg on Tuesday.

Stay informed of weather conditions by listening to a NOAA weather radio, local media outlets or 1610 AM.

Buildings, automobiles and enclosed trailers offer the best protection from lightning. Take precautions if you hear thunder or see lightning close by.

THE LANDFILL WILL BE CLOSED SUNDAY, MAY 27 AND MONDAY, MAY 28 for maintenance over the Memorial Day Holiday. No one (contractors or residents) will be allowed to use the landfill during this time. Regular hours of operation (8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) will resume on Tuesday.
