Today in Greensburg - May 18, 2007
Progress:
- 879 loads of debris were taken to the landfill today bringing the total to nearly 11,500 which equals 124,037 cubic yard which is nearly 50 percent of the total debris which equivalent to a seven story building with the floor space the size of a football field.30 families will be placed in trailers in Buckland and 15 in Pratt by Monday.
- The E-Meds hospital will be open Monday. It is located on US 54 across from the John Deere Dealership.
- Electrical power is being restored as quickly as possible.
- The Volunteer Reception Center has processed over 1732 volunteers who have worked 10932 hours.
- Offices for county government are being installed on the West side of the courthouse.
- The pavilion on the north side of the courthouse is being rebuilt by the National Guard.
Community Events:
- Greensburg Graduation will be held Saturday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. for 8th Graders and 11:00 a.m. for seniors at the Golf Course. For more information call the Greensburg School District at 620-675-8836 or e-mail Greensburg@swprsc.org.
- Kiowa County Commission will be meeting every Monday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Mullinville High School.
- Haviland schools will be hosting a “fun day” for Kiowa County students and staff May 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Haviland High School football field.
- Lighthouse Worship Center Assembly of God will have worship service on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
- There are several items of livestock food available for free. If you are interested call 620-723-2897.
