Kiowa County Health Fair

April 21, 2012

7:00-11:00 a.m.

Youth for Christ building

211 E Garfield, Greensburg

Be sure to mark your calendar for April 21 as the date for our annual Health Fair. This event is sponsored by the Kiowa County Health Department.

Comprehensive lab work will be available at the reduced price of $20.00. This includes test for liver, kidney and thyroid function, cholesterol levels, electrolytes, complete blood count and fasting blood sugar. Men may have a PSA drawn for the cost with the comprehensive blood work for an additional $10.00. The American Cancer Society recommends this test each year for men over 50 in conjunction with a prostate exam by their physician. As in all cancers, early detection can result in more effective treatment the disease.

For the most accurate lab results, you will need to fast (withhold food and caloric drinks) for 12 hours before you have your blood drawn. It is important to increase your water consumption 24 hours before your blood draw. This keeps you from becoming dehydrated and makes the blood draw easier! You may take your morning medication with water or black coffee without breaking the fast.

As always we hope to have a variety of exhibitor’s setup for you to visit and learn more about services available to you.

Water testing for private wells will be available free during our Health Fair. If you would like to do this ahead of time and bring the samples with you, please pick up containers at the Health Department. There will also be testing supplies available the day of the Health Fair and will need to be returned to our office no later then April 23 at 10 am

The Youth for Christ will have a Donation Pancake Feed going on at during our Health Fair. Come and break your fast with the delicious menu!

For additional information or questions concerning the Health Fair contact the Kiowa County Health Department at 620-723-2136.
