THE NATIONAL 9/11 FLAG

The New York Says Thank You Foundation will be bringing the National 9/11 Flag back to Greensburg May 27 – 28th. This Flag began its rebirth in Greensburg in 2008 when New York Says Thank You helped rebuild the Livestock Barn on the County Fairgrounds.

The National 9/11 flag is traveling to all 50 states to be reconstructed prior to being put on display at the Smithonian later this year. When the 9/11 Museum is complete this flag will permanently be housed along with its amazing story in the 9/11 Museum at Ground Zero.

Stitching on the flag on Friday, May 27th is by pre-registering at Greensburg GreenTown for an allotted period of time. The public is invited to take part on Saturday, May 28th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to come to the Kiowa County School gymnasium and place a stitch in the flag. An Official Stitching Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the Kiowa County School Gymnasium with invited guests and dignitaries.

FAITH RINGERS BELL CHOIR TO PERFORM

You are invited to come and share some time with us as we ring Praises to the Lord!!! The Faith Ringers Bell Choir will be playing at the Mullinville Methodist Church during their worship service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 8th.

PAYING IT FORWARD

Each year on the 9/11 anniversary, The New York Says Thank You Foundation sends hundreds of volunteers from New York along with disaster survivors from around the country to help rebuild a community affected by a disaster.

New York Says Thank You Foundation Chairman and Founder Jeff Parness says the anniversary builds are not about 9/11 but about the day after. It is about the people who came to help New York and for us to pay back by helping someone else. As the 2008 recipients of NYSTY’s “Paying it Forward” philosophy, Greensburg/Kiowa County residents are being asked to help raise funds for the upcoming anniversary build. The 2011 anniversary build will be held in Ellijay, Georgia where volunteers will help rebuild the Ark Animal Rescue Center. The rescue center provides a safe haven for animals large and small. You can read their story at www.buildanarkanimalrescue.org .

This year people will have the opportunity to purchase chances for a Quilt give-away. The Quilt was made by Kathy Senst and is on display at Fleener Furniture and Flooring. Chances for the give-away are 1 chance for $5.00 or 5 for $20.00. The Quilt will be given away during the Saturday, May 28th performance of the Triangle Rodeo Club Annual Rodeo. You do not need to be present to win the drawing!
